Recent Efforts
A Green Corridor
WECA’s Greenspace Committee is working to create a green corridor in the West End. Learn more and get involved:
School
We once had a dozen schools, but today none remain. WECA aims to change that.
Charlesbank
WECA is thrilled to have been a part of bringing Charlesbank Landing to the neighborhood.
Planning
Shaping our community is key to keeping it livable and welcoming. WECA is deeply involved in planning the West End.
Supermarket Committee
For so many years the Supermarket Committee, comprised partly of WECA members, fought to get an affordable supermarket in the neighborhood. Eventually that goal was realized thanks to their hard work and to Boston Properties. This video tells the story.
Did you know?
In the West End there are five MBTA stations on all rapid transit lines, as well as Commuter Rail access to the northeast. No place in the neighborhood is more than 1/8 mile from a transit stop (Charles, Bowdoin, Haymarket, North Station, Science Park/West End).
Also within the West End are a Catholic and a Protestant Church, a synagogue, a shopping center, the Museum of Science, the West End Museum, several hotels and two world-class hospitals. The Boston Bruins and Celtics play at the TD Garden with numerous nearby sports taverns and restaurants.
